| Since early times people have been keen for recognition of text. This is so because passing of information was and still is only possible through text documents, be it handwritten or printed. Recognition of printed text is much easier where as the recognition of handwritten text is comparatively much difficult. This is so because of a number of reasons. The main reason is due to the inconsistency and ambiguity that exists in human writing. Manual recognition is still easy because human intelligence can be applied for the purpose. But for huge mass of task, manual recognition becomes infeasible. Therefore we have taken up the problem of automated recognition of handwritten text. We have kept the scope of our work limited to person specific domain i.e. training and recognition is applied to the handwriting of a specific person. We have developed and applied our own segmentation methodology and achieved 91.80% accuracy. Thereafter we have applied the Weighted K Nearest Neighbor Algorithm for training clustering. In this domain we have achieved 84% accuracy. Our work is expected to open up a new domain of research and is also expected to be highly effective for practical person specific character recognition for digital storage. | ||||||||
